When planning a vacation it is important that you do diligent research and planning to make sure you get the best deal for your money. Below are some tips that will help you achieve your vacation goals without breaking your wallet.

Create a budget
Consider the cost of travel, transportation (to and from the airport and any sightseeing you want to do that involves traveling), hotel, drinks and food, recreational activities, etc.. Understanding all of the potential expenses of your vacation will enable to you get a solid understanding of what the cost of your trip is going to be and more importantly whether or not you will be able to cover these expenses.

Select a date
What time of year you choose to travel is critical. If you select to travel during peak travel times like Thanksgiving and Christmas you can expect much higher prices across the board (hotel, airfare, etc.). You should attempt to travel during the off-seasons and during the week. Also, enroll for travel deal alerts with some of the Internet vacation booking companies like Orbitz and Travelocity.

Choose the type of vacation
Are you looking to take a cruise? Maybe you want to go to the islands for an all-inclusive vacation? Perhaps a sight-seeing trip to Greece is what you are looking for. The type of vacation you choose and where to is going to differ greatly in cost.

What are you going to do on your vacation?
Will you be partaking in a lot of sight-seeing? Or will you be vegging out by the pool or beach? When you go away do you like to buy a lot of souvenirs? Do you like eating at fancy restaurants? Perhaps you like to party all day and night? Determine before you go away what you are going to be doing  for fun while vacationing.

Do lots of online research

There are so many different sites, all of which provide a wide variety of packages and deals to all over the country.and even the world! Usually, these online booking sites not only offer discounts on hotels and airfares but also car rentals, meal plans, sightseeing excursions and many other things related to your travel.

Get ideas from family and friends
A good idea would be to have conversations with anyone you know that has recently gone on vacation and find out about their complete experience. Ask where their destination was, what airline carrier they used, what hotel they stayed at, how was the food, what did they do for fun, etc.. And don’t forget to ask about costs and if they feel their vacation was worth the price. Ask as much as you can to find out if their trip may be something that fits your needs and budget.

Never limit yourself
There are so many places all around the world to choose for your vacation. If you do your due diligence and utilize all the info made available to you, you should be able to find a vacation destination that fits your needs and budget. If you are strapped for cash and are going to have a hard time covering your traveling expenses, consider applying for a small loan.
